Bitmap Graphics

Example: Photographs
Bitmaps are resolution-dependent. You need to be aware of the resolution of the final product from the start. Enlarging a bitmap can result in a jagged curve or lost detail. Rarely will you need resolution greater than 300 - 350 dpi.

Vector Graphics

Example: text, logos, shapes, clip art, etc.
Vector art is created in drawing programs, such as Illustrator, CorelDraw, and Freehand. Vectors are resolution-independent. You can move, resize or change color without losing quality.

 

Custom Illustration

Sometimes clipart just won't do and stock photography can be very costly.
